How it works
From your first call to the last tree mulched — and what you can do to give them the best possible start.
Booking and delivery
Once your minimum order of 30 trees is placed, delivery takes approximately 7–10 days. We plant during three windows each year and book on a route basis, so the earlier you call, the more choice you have over timing.
On planting day
We use a hydraulic drilling system that provides a 22" wide hole. Each tree is dropped in, staked, then mulched. Each rootball is injected with transplant fertilizer prior to shipping.
Three things to sort out first
Site prep
We recommend tilling the soil where your trees will be planted. Spruce trees grow faster and fuller when the soil beneath them is kept black.
Locate underground utilities
If you are uncertain where all underground services are located, book a free locate before we arrive — Utility Safety Partners (Click Before You Dig) in Alberta, or Sask 1st Call in Saskatchewan. Locates can take several business days, so call early.
Water source
Use surface water wherever possible. Most ground water in Alberta is high in sodium, which can be lethal for spruce trees. In year one each tree needs 2 to 3 gallons twice a week until the ground freezes; that eases to 1 gallon twice a week in year two, and 1 gallon once a week in year three.
